A documentary series has revealed unprecedented details of one of the most difficult periods in Pep Guardiola's career with Manchester City, after the Spanish coach faced immense pressure that led him to consider leaving the club.

The new series from Amazon Prime documents tense moments inside the Manchester City dressing room, including the row between Guardiola and former captain Kyle Walker, as well as the manager's admission that he told the club's management at one of the toughest points of the season: "It's probably over."

One of the most notable incidents dates back to December 2024, during a match between Manchester City and Liverpool, when Walker lost possession to Luis Diaz, in a moment that ended with Liverpool being awarded a penalty kick.

After the match, Guardiola criticized his captain for the danger of losing the ball in that area, before the discussion between them intensified.

Walker told the coach, "In every meeting, I get called on," to which Guardiola replied, "Perhaps because you're the leader."

Walker replied, "Well, you didn't want me to be your leader."

Weeks later, the English defender left for Milan on loan, a decision Guardiola described to his players as sad, criticizing the way the player's relationship with the club had ended.

During that period, Manchester City was experiencing an unprecedented crisis, having suffered four consecutive defeats for the first time under Guardiola, coinciding with declining results and Rodri's long absence due to injury.

The film reveals that the Spanish coach, following that series, told the club's management that he might have reached the end of his journey with the team, saying: "It's probably over."

Despite this, Guardiola decided to extend his contract in November 2024, assuring his players that his decision was not related to money, but rather to his desire to continue fighting and restore the team's ability to compete.

He said: "I extended the contract because I want to be here with you. I don't want to feel like I'm leaving and running away from you. I want to fight."

The crisis was not limited to the sporting aspect, as the series revealed that Guardiola was also going through difficult personal circumstances, which was reflected in his psychological state and behavior within the club.

Manel Estiarte, one of the closest members of his coaching staff, indicated that the players noticed a clear change in the coach’s personality during that period, and they were worried about him.

The 2024-2025 season ended with Manchester City out of contention for all titles, making it one of Guardiola's toughest seasons since he arrived at the club in 2016.
