Al-Wahda of Damascus were crowned champions of the Syrian Basketball League for the 2025-2026 season on Wednesday, after achieving a big win over their host, Ahli Aleppo, with a score of 90-62 in the fourth game of the final series.
Al-Wahda won the final series, which was held in the Shahba Hall in Aleppo amidst a large crowd, with a score of 3-1, to win its fourth consecutive title and the thirteenth in its history, confirming its dominance of the championship in recent years.
The match began competitively between the two teams, before Al Wahda gradually imposed its superiority thanks to its strong defense and the brilliance of its professional player, E.J., ending the first quarter ahead 24-18, and then widening the gap to 44-31 by the end of the first half.
In the second half, Al-Wahda continued to completely control the course of the match, benefiting from defensive discipline and offensive effectiveness, while Ahli Aleppo suffered a significant decline in performance, with the absence of their professional player Landers Nole due to illness, and Zac Lofton's inability to perform at his usual level under close defensive control.
With the gap widening, Al Wahda coach Gilbert Nasr brought in second-string players, allowing his team to maintain their superiority until the final whistle and achieve a well-deserved victory that gave the club the league title for the current season.
The tournament system stipulates that the winner of three out of five matches in the final round is crowned champion of the Syrian Men's League for the current season.
Thus, Al Wahda team won the Professional Basketball Championship title for the fourth time in a row and the thirteenth time in its history.
