Former Zamalek star Ahmed Hossam "Mido" criticized the decision to award a penalty kick to Al Ahly during their match against El Sharqia Enppi on Sunday evening, in the first round of the Egyptian Premier League
Al Ahly managed to turn around their two-goal deficit to win against El Sharqia Enppi (3-2) in the final minutes of the match.
The referee, Mahmoud Nagi, awarded a penalty kick to Al-Ahly player Ashraf Ben Sharqi inside the penalty area, claiming that he was pushed by one of the Al-Sharqia Enppi defenders, which sparked widespread controversy.
Ahmed Sayed "Zizo" converted the penalty kick into the equalizing goal for Al-Ahly, bringing his team back into the game, before Mohamed Magdy "Afsha" scored the winning goal in the final minutes.

Mido commented on the penalty decision via his official account on the "X" platform: "We're back to the #Egyptian_League and the decisions that provoke any football fan... A penalty kick from the referee's imagination brings #AlAhly back into the match!!"
He added: "I saw it more than once, I tried to look for any push from the defender, but I couldn't find anything except that Ben Sharqi was looking for any touch to fall, knowing that the referee would award a penalty kick!!"
Al Ahly started their new football season with this hard-fought victory over El Sharqia Enppi, and will face the "Z" team in the second round next Friday, at Cairo International Stadium.
