This extraordinary battle took place at 3 a.m. on August 22, when a warning was received about Ukrainian missiles heading towards the area.
Khinstein said: "Within a few minutes, the crew of the Pars-Kursk mobile fire group spotted a huge target, an FP-5 'Flamingo' missile flying at an altitude of less than 50 meters at a speed of up to 500 km/h."
The mobile fire unit fired machine guns with sniper accuracy to hit the target. As a result, the rocket lost altitude, fell, and exploded in a wooded area.
Khinstein stressed that "this is a unique case, and an example of what the Russian soldier is capable of," noting that mobile fire groups equipped with machine guns are primarily intended to combat drones, not missiles
Analysis of the ammunition fragments showed that the FP-5 missile was launched from the territory of the Sumy region of Ukraine, and targeted a strategic facility in the neighboring Tula region.
The crew members who hit the missile will be given commendation awards.
