FIFA issued a strongly worded statement condemning the attempt to destabilize the organization and strongly defending President Gianni Infantino.

FIFA confirmed in its statement that it will not support any presidential election process that violates its statutes and conflicts with the current governance framework.

He also spoke of coordinated and ongoing efforts by some parties to undermine the institution and its president.

FIFA expressed its regret that recent media coverage contained unfounded claims and blatantly false allegations.

The statement also defends Gianni Infantino’s impressive record of more than 30 years in service to European and world football.

FIFA confirmed that it welcomes legitimate scrutiny, but stressed that this cannot be a justification for distorting facts or fabricating misleading information, and therefore announced that it will directly and firmly address any information it considers inaccurate or misleading.

FIFA concluded its statement by saying: "FIFA reaffirms its commitment to its 211 member associations and to the development of football globally."

The statement did not mention any specific party behind the "alleged destabilization attempt".
