England international Ivan Toni, a striker for Saudi Arabia's Al-Ahli, has been charged with assault at a nightclub in central London.
According to the BBC, Ivan Toney was charged on July 31 in connection with an incident that occurred on Wardor Street in the Soho area on December 6.
The 30-year-old was charged with assault causing bodily harm and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on September 24.
A spokesman for Tony said: "Evan admits the charge against him and, although he is shocked, he looks forward to the opportunity to clear his name in court."
Tony is considered one of the most prominent strikers in English football in recent years, as he started his career with Northampton Town, before moving to Newcastle United and then Peterborough United, and then shining in the Brentford jersey, before joining Al-Ahli Saudi in the summer of 2024.
His selection for England's World Cup squad was a surprise, but apart from the France game, his only other appearance was as a substitute in the final minutes of the semi-final match which his team lost 2-1 to Argentina.
