Turkish club Fenerbahce are close to finalizing a deal to sign Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, after obtaining Napoli's approval for the player's transfer during the current transfer window.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Napoli accepted Fenerbahce's new offer, worth more than 6 million euros, while Lukaku gave his approval to the personal terms of the move to the Turkish club.
Romano explained that the agreement between the two clubs has been reached verbally so far, and that the necessary documents and papers will be reviewed in preparation for finalizing the deal and announcing it officially.
The 33-year-old Lukaku helped Napoli win the Italian league title in the 2024-2025 season, before his role with the team declined in the following season, mainly due to injuries, as he only participated in five league matches.
With his position in Napoli's lineup declining, given the availability of other attacking options, the club is now open to his departure for around 10 million euros, while his annual salary, estimated at around 8 million euros, may pose the biggest obstacle to completing the deal.
If the transfer is completed, Lukaku will be the latest big name to join the Turkish league, following the move of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah to Trabzonspor in recent days.
