Scientists from India’s Central Security Organisation (SCIO) have developed an acoustic system to destroy low-flying drones and smugglers’ aircraft.

According to The Tribune, the acoustic system, unlike drone jammers, uses high-frequency, intense sound waves to disrupt the microelectromechanical gyroscopes on board autonomous drones that ensure their stability during flight, as well as to disrupt their navigation systems.

This innovation is a valuable addition to India's integrated, multi-layered air defense system. Designed for use at ranges of up to hundreds of meters from the target, the system can be effectively deployed in urban and densely populated areas for precision defense against small and nano-drones, as well as other types of drones, in conjunction with electronic warfare systems.
