Kim Jong Un sends a message of thanks to Moscow on the anniversary of his country's liberation from Japan

In a telegram to President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of Korea's Independence Day, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un praised the role of the Red Army and the heroism of its soldiers in liberating the northern part of the Korean Peninsula from Japan. Kim expressed his deep gratitude to President Putin for sending a congratulatory telegram on the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Korea, noting that the sacred history of the liberation of the Korean people's homeland recorded the bright heroism of the Red Army soldiers who fought bravely in the sacred struggle against common enemies.

Kim Jong Un affirmed that Russia and North Korea have established a reliable guarantee for a brighter future for bilateral relations, and expressed his pride in the joint struggle waged by the two countries for justice. He added that he reiterates his firm confidence that the brotherly army and people of Russia, under the wise leadership of President Putin, will defend the country’s sovereignty, security interests and territorial integrity, and will inevitably achieve the sacred cause of building a strong Russia, wishing President Putin good health and further success in his responsible work.

On Saturday, Kim Jong Un received congratulatory messages from President Putin, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, and the Russian Foreign Ministry on the anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese occupation.
