The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed on Monday the list of countries that will host a number of continental tournaments during the years 2026 and 2027.
The tournaments will be spread across 5 countries: Morocco, Egypt, Ghana, Senegal and South Africa, with Morocco and Egypt having a prominent presence in the list of host countries.
Morocco has won the rights to host the 2026 Africa Futsal Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place between October 12 and 21.
The Kingdom will also host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Under-17, scheduled to take place during April and May of next year.
Morocco thus continues to confirm its presence as one of the most prominent centers for hosting African championships in recent years.
For its part, CAF chose Egypt to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Under-23, a tournament of particular importance as it will qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
This step reflects the African Union’s confidence in Egypt’s ability to organize major tournaments, given its long experience and suitable infrastructure for hosting continental and international competitions.
Ghana will host the 2027 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations in February and March.
As for Senegal, it will be the venue for the 2026 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations, scheduled for next November.
In club competitions, South Africa will host the African Super Cup in Tshwane on November 8, where Mamelodi Sundowns, the African Champions League winners, will meet USM Alger, the African Confederation Cup holders.
CAF stressed that increased stability in its competition schedule will help member associations plan better, and will also give players, fans, broadcasters and sponsors a clearer view of continental competitions.
The African Union also announced progress in studying the launch of the African Nations League, after the Executive Committee discussed the proposed system for the competition, within a direction aimed at increasing the number of important international competitions and enhancing their sporting and commercial value.
Regarding club competitions for the 2026-2027 season, the draw for the preliminary rounds of the African Champions League and the Confederation Cup has been completed, with the first leg matches to be held between September 4 and 6, and the second leg matches between September 11 and 13.
