Doctors at the Verisaev Maternity Hospital in Moscow helped a woman become a mother for the fifteenth time.
The baby girl, named Vera (meaning Faith), was born this August and is the fifteenth child in the family of Nadezhda (meaning Hope) and Ivan Rogov. The couple now have ten daughters and five sons. The health department noted that nothing like this had ever happened before at the hospital.
For 41-year-old Nadezhda, this is her second visit to this hospital. She gave birth to her fourteenth child here a year ago, though the facility was located at a different address at the time. The mother admitted that she never aimed for a specific number of children, emphasizing that she has as many as God allows her.
Nadezhda Rogova gave birth to all fifteen of her children naturally, without anesthesia. Her husband, Ivan, was always by her side, as all the births were attended by him. The on-call medical team included obstetrician-gynecologist Vasily Asansky. The doctor confirmed that in his nearly three decades of practice, he had never encountered a patient like her.
Last July, another Muscovite woman gave birth to her sixteenth child. The family welcomed their ninth son, bringing the mother's total to seven daughters and nine sons. The boy was born healthy, weighing 4200 grams and measuring 56 centimeters in length.
While high birth rates are a common phenomenon in Russia, families with 15 or more children are considered exceptionally rare. According to experts, there are only a few hundred such families nationwide.
