Brazilian Neymar da Silva has sparked speculation about his future after confirming that he has not yet decided what he will do after his contract with Santos expires in December 2026, indicating that retirement is still an option.
In statements made via his official YouTube channel on the sidelines of his arrival at the Neymar Jr. Institute charity auction in Sao Paulo, the player said: "I don't know how long I will continue playing. I am not thinking about retiring now, but I don't even know when I will continue
I have a contract with Santos until December and I intend to honor it and do justice to the club's jersey in the best way possible. After the contract ends, I will think about whether to continue with Santos, leave, retire from football, or continue playing."
Neymar is scheduled to travel to Belém on Wednesday morning to join the Santos squad in preparation for their match against Remo in the second leg of the round of 16 of the Brazilian Cup.
The first leg at the "Vila Belmiro" stadium ended in a goalless draw, meaning that Santos needs to win in order to qualify for the quarter-finals, in the match scheduled to be played at the "Mangueirao" stadium.
