Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov of Paris Saint-Germain has secured a place in ESPN's list of the world's best goalkeepers, ranking him tenth.

The network praised the Russian goalkeeper's ability to save penalties, citing his performance in the Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo, when he managed to stop 4 out of 5 penalties during the shootout, contributing to PSG winning the title.

Arsenal's Spanish goalkeeper David Raya topped the rankings, ahead of Real Madrid's Belgian star Thibaut Courtois, while Manchester City's Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma came in third.

Safonov joined Paris Saint-Germain from Krasnodar in 2024, before becoming the French team's first-choice goalkeeper in December 2025.

During his time with the Parisian club, Savonov won 9 titles, including two French league titles, two Champions League titles, as well as two European Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup titles.

The Russian goalkeeper also recently contributed to Paris Saint-Germain's victory in the European Super Cup, after defeating Aston Villa 2-1.

The team will begin its campaign in the new French league season on August 23 with a match against Rennes.
