Former Spanish star Sergio Busquets has returned to Barcelona through coaching, after joining the coaching staff of Barcelona Athletic, the Catalan club's reserve team.

Busquets, 38, will take on the role of assistant coach to Juliano Belletti, while simultaneously undergoing training courses to obtain an official coaching license from the European Football Association "UEFA".

Barcelona Athletic participates in the Spanish fourth division, while Busquets and Belletti share a previous experience as players in Barcelona's first team.

Busquets returns to the club where he spent most of his career, having worn the Barcelona jersey between 2005 and 2023, playing 722 matches with the first team, during which he scored 18 goals and made 46 assists.

During his golden career with Barcelona, Busquets won 9 Spanish League titles, 3 Champions League titles, 7 Copa del Rey titles, and 7 Spanish Super Cup titles.

He also achieved notable accomplishments with the Spanish national team, most notably winning the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship.

After leaving Barcelona, Busquets moved to Inter Miami in the United States, before announcing his retirement from football last December, and is now beginning a new chapter in his career within the Catalan club, but from the coaching bench.
