Russian Maria Govner crowned European champion in Olympic rowing

 

Russian Maria Govner won the lightweight single sculls rowing race at the European Olympic Rowing Championships (Academic) held in Varese, Italy.

Goffner clocked a time of 7 minutes and 30.47 seconds, ahead of Dutchwoman Tosca Ketler, who came in second with a time of 7:36.58 minutes, followed by Greek Gabriela Liouli in third place with a time of 7:39.14 minutes.

Goffner finished third in this sport at the 2025 European Championships.

It should be noted that the International Rowing Federation (World Rowing) allows Russian athletes to participate in international competitions under a neutral flag.
