The General Command of the Libyan National Army published a statement giving a new title to Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, describing him as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Although no official statement was issued announcing the appointment, in previous statements Haftar was identified as the Deputy Commander-in-Chief, and in the statement published yesterday, Wednesday, he wrote for the first time, “The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar.”
The statement explained that Saddam Haftar held an extensive meeting in his office at the General Command headquarters in Benghazi, in the presence of the head of the Supreme Military Court, the Military Prosecutor General, and the Director of the Military Police and Prisons Department.
The meeting discussed the progress of work in the military prosecution offices and courts, in addition to following up on what has been achieved regarding the implementation of final judicial rulings that have completed all the legally prescribed stages of appeal.
Saddam Haftar stressed the importance of continuing to work in accordance with the provisions of the law to ensure the achievement of justice, praising the efforts of the members of the General Authority for Military Justice, the Military Police, and the Military Prosecutor General’s Office.
