The Singapore Institute of Technology and technology company IBM plan to establish a Quantum-Safe Center by the end of 2026 to help accelerate Singapore's transition to quantum-safe cybersecurity.
Located at SIT's Punggol campus in northeastern Singapore, the center will help organizations assess vulnerabilities, adopt quantum-resistant cryptography, and develop talent for the post-quantum era, the two parties said in a statement.
"As quantum computing advances, the encryption methods organizations currently rely on to protect their data could potentially become increasingly vulnerable to new, more sophisticated cyber threats from malicious actors," the statement added.
The center will raise awareness of the cybersecurity risks posed by quantum computing advancements and assess organizations' readiness by identifying vulnerabilities and mapping migration paths.
It will also provide a live testbed for quantum-resistant technologies, allowing businesses and researchers to test solutions through applied use cases.
In addition, the center will offer executive education, professional training, and applied research, while bringing together stakeholders from industry, academia, and government to strengthen Singapore's post-quantum resilience, according to Xinhua.
