Riyadh witnessed the signing of an agreement to establish a Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation and Coordination between the Republic of Sudan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Sudanese side by Foreign Minister Mohi El-Din Salem, and on behalf of the Saudi side by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in the presence of the Sudanese Ambassador to the Kingdom, Ambassador Dafallah Al-Haj Ali Othman, and a number of officials from both sides, in a scene that reflects the importance of this step at the level of political and diplomatic coordination between the two countries.
The council aims to establish a higher and more comprehensive institutional framework for managing and developing bilateral relations between Riyadh and Khartoum, and to elevate them to a broader level of coordination and cooperation in various areas of common interest, thereby contributing to strengthening the official partnership between the two countries and opening new horizons for economic and investment cooperation.
The council covers ten main files, including political, economic, investment, trade and other areas of cooperation, which contributes to unifying visions, facilitating the implementation of joint projects and programs, supporting development and stability efforts, and enhancing mutual interests between the two brotherly countries.
The signing of the agreement comes amid growing relations between Khartoum and Riyadh, and shared aspirations for a new phase of strategic cooperation, based on mutual interests and a shared vision for a more stable and prosperous future, reflecting the special nature of Sudanese-Saudi relations and the keenness of the two countries’ leaderships to develop them in an institutional and sustainable manner.
