“A victory in Canada,” the organization said . “ The Legal Center for Palestine and the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) succeeded in canceling Aryeh King’s travel permit. Now we hope for a similar outcome in the United States.”
The Canadian move came after a formal criminal complaint, coinciding with Hind Rajab's organization submitting a request to the US Department of Justice to prosecute King for war crimes and incitement to genocide, before his expected arrival in the United States on August 31.
According to the organization, the request accuses King, a British-Israeli dual national, of inciting genocide in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories through repeated calls to halt humanitarian aid to Gaza, pushing for the forced displacement of Palestinians, as well as his campaign against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
The request also accuses him of committing war crimes under US law, based on the "systematic dispossession of Palestinians of their property and their forcible transfer" from neighborhoods in occupied East Jerusalem, including Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan, with the aim of replacing them with Israeli settlers.
The organization's representative in the United States, Jake Rom, said that Washington should arrest, try, and punish King, while its general manager, Diab Abu Jahjah, stressed that "international crimes must have international consequences."
