The World Health Organization announced that it has received €12 million in humanitarian funding from the European Union to support the health sector and its ability to respond to health needs across Syria.
The organization explained that the new funding will contribute to securing medicines for non-communicable diseases, in addition to supporting emergency medical care and mental health services, which are sectors that require continuous supply and equipment to ensure that patients have access to the necessary care.
Part of the aid will also be allocated to providing the necessary medical equipment and supplies for vital departments within hospitals, including dialysis rooms, emergency and surgical departments, and intensive care units.
This support aims to contribute to maintaining the continuity of basic medical services, enhancing the readiness of health facilities to deal with emergencies and patients who need specialized care, in addition to improving the availability of necessary medicines and supplies.
The funding comes at a time when the health sector in Syria continues to face increasing needs, making international humanitarian aid an important factor in supporting the work of health facilities and securing basic services for patients in various regions.
