The 38th International Informatics Olympiad in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, according to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Digital Technologies.
In its press release, the Ministry stated that the IOI event was being held in Uzbekistan for the first time.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov said that Uzbekistan is paying great attention to making the country a regional information technology (IT) hub.
He emphasized the symbolic value of holding this Olympiad in the homeland of the great scholar Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, whose name is the origin of the term "algorithm".
At the event, IOI President Sun Teck Tan stated that the mission of the Olympiad is to support talented young people and create an international platform for exchanging experiences.
He emphasized that the future of technological progress is determined primarily by the creativity, integrity, and perseverance of young professionals capable of solving complex tasks.
As part of this year's IOI, young programmers from around the world will demonstrate their knowledge and skills in programming and algorithm design, which will help strengthen ties within the international IT community, the ministry added.
