The Ministry of Communication and Digital urges the public to carefully check content

The Ministry of Communication and Digital  has urged the public to be careful when checking photo and video content circulating on digital platforms to avoid being misled by old content being re-uploaded without a time stamp.

The Director General of Public Communication and Media at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Fifi Aleyda Yahya, stated that uploading content without information about the place, time, source, and context has the potential to mislead, trigger misunderstandings, and worsen the situation.

"The public needs to be more critical of any information they receive. Don't immediately believe, let alone share, photos or videos of demonstrations before confirming the time, location, and source," Fifi said.

Fifi added that republishing old content without proper information can create false perceptions.

He emphasized that the government respects the public's freedom to obtain and convey information as guaranteed by laws and regulations.

However, this freedom comes with the responsibility to ensure that the information disseminated is accurate and not misleading.
