The Sharia issues a decree appointing Mazloum Abdi as an advisor to the Presidency of the Republic

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, during the transitional period, issued a decree appointing Mazloum Abdi as an advisor to the presidency.

The text of the decree reads: "Mr. Mustafa Khalil Abdi (Mazloum Abdi) is appointed as an advisor to the Presidency of the Republic." He added: "This decree shall be published and communicated to those concerned for its implementation."

This decree is linked to the announcement by Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), that the military, security, and administrative integration of his forces into Syrian state institutions is complete . He emphasized that Kurdish rights will be enshrined in the constitution and that they will abide by Syrian law. Abdi had previously announced in a televised address from the presidential palace in Damascus the "end of the SDF's mission and its dissolution as an independent military force."

This development is part of the implementation of the agreement concluded on January 29, 2026 between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, which stipulates the integration of the civilian and military institutions of the Kurdish administration into the institutions of the Syrian state, after months of negotiations between the two parties.
