Young Russian hockey player Amir Khanov died at the age of 19 after suffering a sudden health problem while on a date with his girlfriend in the Russian city of Ufa.
According to Russian media, Khanov lost consciousness while participating in a pottery-making workshop, before ambulance crews were called, but he later died.
Authorities have not yet announced the official cause of death, pending the results of medical examinations.
Khanov is a graduate of the Salavat Yulaev club academy, where he played within the club system between 2017 and 2023, before spending the last two seasons in the National Youth Hockey League with the Samara and Poliot Rybinsk teams.
During the 2022-2023 season, Khanov emerged as the top scoring defender for Salavat Yulaev 2007 in the Volga Region Russian Championship, making him one of the most prominent rising talents in Russian hockey.
