The transfer of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah to Trabzonspor continues to generate widespread interest in Türkiye and Egypt, after its repercussions extended beyond the sports scene and reached the diplomatic arena.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan commented on the great reaction to Salah's transfer during a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel-Aty in El Alamein, saying that the atmosphere seemed as if "the Turkish and Egyptian peoples embraced on this occasion," stressing his happiness with this reaction.
Trabzonspor announced the signing of Salah on a free transfer, following his departure from Liverpool, in a move that sparked considerable interest among the club's fans and Turkish football in general.
According to Turkish media reports, Salah, 34, receives 10 million euros annually, in addition to a 7 million euro signing bonus, bringing the total value of the announced contract to about 17 million euros, with additional performance-related bonuses, such as the number of goals and titles.
