US investigation into 997,000 General Motors trucks and cars

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced today that it has opened a preliminary investigation involving 997,743 General Motors pickup trucks and SUVs.

This comes in the wake of complaints regarding engine malfunctions. The vehicles under investigation include Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and GMC Yukon models, along with other 2021-2026 model year vehicles equipped with General Motors' L87 engines.

It is worth noting that General Motors issued a recall last year to address defects related to the affected L87 engines, and the manufacturer attributed the problem to an external supplier.

The National Engineering Administration indicated that the new engineering analysis will delve deeper into the study of the malfunctions that occurred after the recall, to assess the effectiveness of the repairs implemented by General Motors.
