There have been reports that Al-Ahly may freeze Imam Ashour, a player on the first football team, in light of the ongoing crisis regarding the renewal of his contract and the lack of a final agreement between the two parties so far.
During his program "With Shobeir," journalist Ahmed Shobeir revealed Al-Ahly's position, saying: "Al-Ahly does not intend to freeze Imam Ashour even if no agreement is reached regarding extending his contract," thus denying what was rumored about the administration making a decision to exclude the player from participating with the team in the coming period.
He continued: "If Imam Ashour does not renew his contract with Al-Ahly, there is no problem. He will continue normally. He said that he was injured recently, and we believed him. He returned and trained with the team. He had hope of being included in the squad for today's match against El-Sharkia Enppi in the league."
He concluded: "But Imam was not in Al Ahly's squad for today's match. He may be in the squad for the next match, but what is certain is that there is no freeze on the player."
Al-Ahly continues negotiations to renew the contracts of 5 players: Mostafa Shobeir, Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Hany, Marwan Attia and Emam Ashour, as part of the administration’s desire to maintain the core of the team.
Negotiations have reached advanced stages with some players, while Imam Ashour's contract remains the most complicated issue due to the lack of a final agreement and the player's insistence on receiving a salary increase, which Al-Ahly rejected because of the specified salary cap.
Imam Ashour's contract with Al Ahly ends in the summer of 2028, amid reports that the player does not want to renew with the Red Castle and wants to pursue a professional career in Europe.
