Zamalek Club entered the debate surrounding the Egyptian refereeing file and issued a statement in response to the objections of its rival Al-Ahly regarding the formation of the referees committee and the appointment of Essam Abdel Fattah as its head.
The Zamalek board of directors confirmed its rejection of what it described as "an early campaign against Egyptian refereeing," considering that the preemptive objection to the names of those responsible for the committee and the bringing up of refereeing errors from last season aims to stir up controversy and put pressure on the referees before the start of the new season.
Zamalek said that "threatening referees early, objecting to some names, and questioning the decisions of the refereeing system is unacceptable," stressing the need to preserve the integrity of Egyptian football personnel and not to influence referees before the start of competitions.
The White Club also praised the efforts of the board of directors of the Egyptian Football Association, headed by Hani Abu Rida, in developing the football system and benefiting from the successes of the Egyptian national team in its recent participation in the World Cup.
In another matter that attracted the attention of the sports community, Zamalek praised the statements of the head of the Football Association regarding the validity of its players’ contracts, and called on the concerned authorities to reveal the extent of the legality of the contracts of the players of all clubs, with the aim of achieving transparency and showing the truth to everyone.
Zamalek's statement comes days after the controversy between the two Egyptian football giants escalated over the issue of refereeing, as clubs prepare for the start of the new season.
