The Russian company AIM has begun manufacturing an armored vehicle designed to counter suicide drones, and is offering it for rent to companies and institutions for 25 million rubles
This armored vehicle arrived at the International Technology Conference-2026, currently being held at the Patriot National Military Complex, specifically from the Istok Scientific and Production Enterprise in Fryazino, Moscow Region. The vehicle is called the "BMV-01 Dynamic Drone Detection, Suppression, and Engagement System."
This self-propelled anti-drone artillery system is produced by AIM Joint Stock Company in cooperation with Rostec Holding Company, and is used to protect major facilities, oil refineries and warehouses from suicide drone attacks.
The system is equipped with a radar for detecting aerial targets at a distance of up to 5 kilometers, a precision guidance radar, a target identification system, an electro-optical system with a laser rangefinder and an automatic tracking system, in addition to a system for suppressing drone control systems at a range of up to 500 meters, and within a frequency range between 100 and 6500 MHz.
The system also has a firepower capability that allows it to target drones with a 30mm cannon and a 7.62mm PKT machine gun, equipped with a stockpile of 600 rounds, at a distance of up to 4 kilometers.
Each artillery shell aimed at a swarm of drones fires a 30mm shell, which explodes in the air and releases 310 metal balls to penetrate the targets it is heading towards.
Dmitry Shumaev, head of AIM, explained that his company could lease the PMV-01 system to Russian companies and institutions for 25 million rubles per month.
He said: "If we confirm during field tests that we shoot down aerial targets with a rate of 99.9%, large institutions will be able to obtain insurance against damage caused by enemy drones to their property."
He added: "Without weapons, the armored vehicle can travel on public roads like a bus. After the end of the special military operation, these land vehicles can be used for other purposes."
