Ali Kamgöz, the head of contracts at Turkish club Konyaspor, revealed the truth about what was rumored regarding his club entering into official negotiations to sign Imam Ashour, the Al-Ahly and Egyptian national team player, during the last summer transfer window.
Kamjoz explained, in statements via "MBC MASR" channel, that Konyaspor had an interest in signing Imam Ashour, and there was a desire to negotiate with the player, but the Turkish club did not send any official offer to Al-Ahly to obtain his services.
The head of contracts at Konyaspor also denied that agent Adam Watani had entered into negotiations regarding the transfer of Imam Ashour, stressing that the agent’s role with the Turkish club was limited to the deal for his compatriot Mostafa Mohamed
Kamjoz said: "We did not send any offers to sign Imam Ashour in the last summer transfer window."
Al-Ahly had rejected an offer to let go of Emam Ashour for $4.5 million, with the value of the deal to be paid in installments over 3 years, before the player renewed his contract with the Red Castle until the summer of 2030, with an adjustment to his annual salary.
In another context, Kamjoz spoke about Konyaspor's negotiations with Mostafa Mohamed, stressing that the Egyptian striker is a distinguished player, and wishing him success in the coming period.
The Turkish club's contracts manager pointed out the difficulty of the upcoming match against Trabzonspor, given the presence of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah in the opponent's ranks.
Konyaspor will host Trabzonspor on Saturday, in the fifth round of the Turkish Super League.
Trabzonspor occupies second place in the league standings with 7 points, two points behind the leader Kocaelispor.
Meanwhile, Konyaspor suffered four consecutive defeats and sits at the bottom of the standings with no points.
