Al-Nasr club seeks to achieve a historic feat when it visits Al-Ettifaq team on Saturday evening, as part of the seventh round of matches of the Saudi "Roshan" Professional Football League.
The match against Al-Khaleej is of historical importance to Al-Nasr, as scoring just one goal will get them into the Guinness Book of Records.
Al-Nassr, led by Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, has the opportunity to claim the world record for the longest consecutive series of matches in which goals have been scored in leagues, after reaching 93 consecutive matches, equaling the record held by Argentina's River Plate and Portugal's Benfica.
The "global" team needs to score just one goal against Al-Khaleej in order to reach 94 consecutive matches, and thus claim the world record and have its name written in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The winning streak began during the 2023-2024 season, when the team scored in the last 19 league games, then continued to score in all 34 games of the 2024-2025 season, as well as in all 34 games of the 2025-2026 season, before scoring in the first 6 games of the 2026-2027 season, bringing the total streak to 93 games.
Al-Nasr shares the top spot with River Plate and Benfica as the clubs with the most consecutive goals in the league with 93 matches, followed by Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia with 88 matches, and Bayern Munich of Germany with 87 matches.
The list of clubs with the longest scoring streaks also includes Red Star Belgrade of Serbia and PAOK of Greece with 69 matches each, Barcelona of Spain with 63 matches, Celtic of Scotland with 61 matches, and Arsenal of England with 55 matches.
