Real Madrid confirmed in an official statement issued on Wednesday: "Our player Raul Asensio will undergo surgery tomorrow, Thursday, to treat a stress fracture in his right tibia."
Although the official statement did not mention the expected duration of the young defender's absence, the Spanish newspaper "Marca" revealed that Asensio will need a recovery and rehabilitation period ranging from two to four months, which means he will be out of action until the beginning of next year.
The Spanish report indicated that the option of surgical intervention had been strongly considered since the end of last season to take advantage of the summer break, before finally settling on carrying out the operation at the present time to ensure the player’s full recovery.
