An Israeli policeman was seriously injured on Wednesday evening in a car-ramming attack at the Maccabim military checkpoint west of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank, while the Israeli army killed the perpetrator.
The Israeli army announced in a statement that a car-ramming attack had taken place near the Maccabim military checkpoint, before reporting in a later update that its forces had killed the perpetrator at the scene.
The army said in its first statement: “A report was received of a car-ramming attack in the vicinity of the Maccabim checkpoint, within the Binyamin Brigade, and details are being investigated.”
Later, in a separate statement, he said: “Following the report of the car-ramming attack at a checkpoint in the Binyamin Brigade, the forces operating at the scene were able to neutralize the perpetrator.”
In detailing the operation, the Israeli police said in a statement that “the perpetrator drove his car towards a police patrol and ran over one of its members, causing him serious injuries.”
She added: “The forces present at the scene opened fire on the perpetrator and killed him.”
“Israel Hayom” said that the injured man is 40 years old, and described his injury as serious.
