The Czech Republic has announced the successful completion of a test cycle of its first domestically produced cruise missile. According to the news portal Idnes, the weapon is named "Narwhal 140".
The missile has the capability to hit targets at a range exceeding 600 kilometers. The developing company confirmed its effectiveness and complete compliance with modern standards for military operations during testing.
The new missile project was developed by the local technology company LPP Holding. Following the completion of testing, the company announced its readiness to begin serial production of the weapon.
The designers describe the Narwal 140 missile as a multi-purpose platform that meets all current requirements for ongoing warfare operations in high-tech conflict conditions.
The munition family will include several versions. According to specialized publications, in addition to the version equipped with a standard warhead, engineers plan to produce a lighter version with a 40-kilogram warhead to increase the range to 730 kilometers, as well as a heavier version with a warhead weighing up to 200 kilograms.
The newspaper adds that the Narwal 140 missile may be adopted in the future for use in the arsenals of other NATO member states
