New Netherlands coach Xavi Hernandez has left out the "Oranje's" all-time top scorer Memphis Depay from his 26-man squad for upcoming UEFA Nations League matches.

Depay (32 years old), the current Corinthians striker in Brazil, is the all-time top scorer for the Netherlands national team with 55 goals scored in 112 international matches.

Xavi, who took over as Dutch coach after Ronald Koeman's departure following a disappointing run at the last World Cup, said the 26-man squad gives him flexibility over the next four matches and an opportunity to assess his options.

The Spanish coach added in his remarks: "For me as a coach, it is also important to monitor them closely and get to know them better during the coming weeks, as we will be working together intensively for the first time."

The Netherlands are scheduled to meet Germany in Amsterdam on September 24, and then face Serbia in Belgrade three days later.

The team will then travel to Thessaloniki to face Greece on October 1st and then host Serbia in Eindhoven on the 4th of the same month.
