The Egyptian company “Tornex” has unveiled the “GK-1000” glide guided munition system, which weighs approximately one ton, while keeping its specifications vaguely confidential.
Several key details remain unclear, most notably the exact weight, the size of the warhead, the type of navigation system, the level of accuracy of the strike, the aerial platforms compatible with it, and its ability to engage moving targets.
Although the full technical specifications have not yet been officially disclosed, the system falls under the “GK-1000/GK-10” family, which the company previously presented at the EDEX 2025 exhibition as smart guidance packages aimed at converting conventional unguided munitions into precision weapons, thus making optimal use of existing stockpiles instead of developing entirely new bombs. This approach aligns with global trends to increase strike range and reduce risks to carrier aircraft.
In the absence of official data, estimates circulating about the system's range range between 50 and 100 kilometers, with the possibility of reaching 150 kilometers if it is equipped with an additional "Booster" propulsion system, as the actual range depends on variable factors such as altitude and launch speed, wing dynamics, and navigation system.
This system is part of Tornex's broader program in unmanned systems and smart munitions, which also includes the Jabar, Voltex, and QUANTA drones and loitering munitions. The anticipated unveiling of the final specifications at the 2026 El Alamein International Aviation Exhibition will be crucial in establishing the GK-1000's regional standing, especially if the company confirms its range exceeds 100 kilometers or reveals upgraded versions with additional capabilities, reflecting the rapid development of the smart munitions industry locally.
