Existential fears are circulating in the corridors of "OpenAI" and "Anthropic" Has the countdown to disaster begun?

The rapid development of artificial intelligence has recently alarmed a number of employees at major companies operating in the sector. In addition to the Anthropic researcher who left the company due to fears of security risks to the models, a number of employees have expressed concern about artificial intelligence and the possibility of it eliminating humanity, according to a Reuters news agency report.
The  noted that another researcher at Anthropic believes that the probability of artificial intelligence eliminating humans exceeds 10%, in addition to the organized attack launched by the swarm of AI agents belonging to the company " OpenAI ".
In an unprecedented event in the artificial intelligence sector, the hacking incidents brought together the leaders of major competing companies in the sector in a single request: a collective slowdown in the development of models for fear that they would get even more out of control.

The call began with Anthropic CEO Dario Amode, in a lengthy blog post, demanding a slowdown in the development of new models and stricter restrictions, and calling on the US government to intervene to regulate this slowdown.

Then he was agreed by top leaders of artificial intelligence companies such as Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and even the CEOs of Microsoft , SpaceX, and Google's DeepMind lab.

These calls coincide with OpenAI's announcement in early September of its new "Astra" model, which it described as the beginning of the era of artificial general intelligence.

The development of general artificial intelligence is the most prominent endeavor of major companies that they have long advocated for over the past years. OpenAI has announced more than once, through its CEO and official statements, its intention to develop the technology and its pursuit of it.

Artificial intelligence is evolving faster than our ability to control it.
The concept of artificial general intelligence, capable of evolving without human intervention, poses a more serious challenge than traditional models, as this technology can evolve and build more powerful models than itself without any human intervention; that is, artificial intelligence will develop itself.
Joe Benton, a researcher who recently left Anthropic, warns of the rapid pace at which artificial intelligence models are developing, arguing that the models are evolving faster than companies can control them, especially given the intense competition between different companies to release the most powerful models as quickly as possible.
