Indonesian fencer Nia Ayu Agustina was stopped in the group stage of the individual sabre fencing event at the 2026 Aichi Nagoya Asian Games.
In six matches that took place at Aichi Sky Expo Hall F, Aichi, Thursday, Nia collected one win and suffered five defeats.
Starting the first match, Nia acknowledged the toughness of the host Japanese athlete Yuina Kaneko through 2-5.
Then in the second match, Nia put in an impressive performance by overcoming the resistance of Thai athlete Tonkhaw Phokaew 5-4.
In the third match, Nia appeared to be ahead but had to admit the toughness of Hong KOg representative Summer Fay Sit 2-5.
In the fourth match, Nia had to end the match quickly after South Korean athlete Hayoung Jeon won 5-0.
In the final match, Nia had to admit the toughness of the Philippine representative Jylyn Nicanor with a score of 4-5.
In this phase, the athlete with the highest win percentage is guaranteed to advance to the knockout phase. Meanwhile, Nia, with only one win, is eliminated, finishing in 22nd place overall.
