Alexey Chadayev, Director General of the Oshkoynik Scientific and Production Center, announced that his center has developed the "Basika" system to provide all-around protection for facilities and vehicles on the ground from hostile FPV drones.
This came in his statement in an interview with the Russian news agency Novosti, where he announced that the system is capable of automatically intercepting an FPV flight using a network without operator intervention.
The Director General said that the upgraded "Basica" system is capable of providing all-around ground protection for soldiers or facilities from FPV drones.
According to his information, four round units equipped with 12 launchers provide a 360-degree protective net.
He said that "Basica" is an effective weapon for close-quarters combat.
Chadayev noted that when an FPV drone approaches, the system automatically identifies it using artificial intelligence, without operator intervention, and launches a 4x4 meter net towards it at a range of up to 20 meters. According to his data, the entire perimeter of the facility can be protected by four units equipped with 48 net launchers.
However, the system is inexpensive because it uses a standard fishing net that fires and entangles FPV drone propellers. Furthermore, replacing the spent cartridge in the net launcher takes only a few seconds.
Tests conducted in September confirmed all the features included in the system.
Chadayev had previously spoken about the development of the fastest anti-drone aircraft, the "Krechet" model, which is capable of reaching a speed of 450 kilometers per hour.
