Under the deal, owner Gerard Lopez leaves Bordeaux after five turbulent years that saw the 2008-2009 French league champions fall from the elite ranks to the sixth tier, in one of the most dramatic declines in the history of French football.
The club said in a statement that the deal was concluded "for a symbolic one euro with the buyer assuming the debts," describing it as "an important step towards rebuilding Bordeaux's future."
French media reported that the "Park Bench" fund will incur debts approaching 18 million euros.
The fund operates in the fields of data analysis, software and investment, and is owned by American Evan Soffer and Briton James Board.
Bordeaux has suffered successive financial crises in recent years, having been placed under judicial administration twice since 2021, before spending the last two seasons in the fourth division following a series of sanctions and administrative relegation.
The club's troubles worsened this year, prompting the French professional clubs' regulatory body to relegate it to the sixth division, reaching one of its lowest levels in its history.
The sale still needs approval from local regulatory authorities, as well as the club's budget for the 2026-2027 season, in order for Bordeaux to compete in the sixth division.
The plan also needs to be approved by the Bordeaux Commercial Court, a crucial step to avoid the club entering liquidation proceedings.
