Liverpool FC has announced the departure of Richard Hughes, the club's sporting director, after two seasons within the walls of the English club, during which he achieved some successes.
Richard Hughes took over as Liverpool's sporting director in 2024, when the Reds were able to win the English Premier League title for the 20th time in their history.
Liverpool FC confirmed that Richard Hughes has resigned from his position as the club's sporting director, and current reports indicate that he is close to taking over the same position at Saudi club Al-Hilal.
Hughes said via Liverpool's official website: "First and foremost, I want to reiterate what I said when I arrived here: it has been a great honor to have the opportunity to serve this wonderful and unique institution, and it is something I will always be grateful for."
He added: "My appreciation extends to the owners for their support and leadership, to the club's staff at all levels who do so much to make Liverpool what it is today, to the amazing players, and to the fans who support the team in large numbers wherever and whenever matches are played."
He concluded: "I will always follow and support the club with all my love, and I wish everyone connected with the club all the best and success this season and beyond."
