Internal fuel tanks: The Su-57 breaks records and proves its unprecedented operational superiority

In a development that enhances the standing of Russian military aviation, the Rostec corporation confirmed that equipping the Su-57E fighter jet with additional internal fuel tanks gives it exceptional operational superiority.

On Thursday, September 17, the Russian state corporation Rostec revealed a crucial strategic advantage of the fifth-generation Su-57E fighter jet, asserting that equipping it with additional internal fuel tanks makes it an unparalleled aircraft in its class in terms of flight range and endurance, thus enhancing its operational capabilities in an unprecedented manner.

The corporation explained that the Russian fighter jet demonstrated, during its exceptional flight to the El Alamein International Air Show in Egypt, which was held between September 8 and 10, high efficiency in fuel management thanks to the internal tanks that were placed within the cargo compartments.

This clever design allowed for the complete elimination of traditional external fuel tanks, which maintained the aircraft's aerodynamic efficiency and reduced its radar signature, which is entirely consistent with the philosophy of fifth-generation aircraft.

The advantage was not limited to the appearance, but translated into amazing field performance; the Su-57E carried out the long flight with only one intermediate landing, yet it retained enough fuel reserves to travel an additional thousand kilometers.

This huge reserve enabled the aircraft to carry out a full demonstration flight the day after the exhibition, equivalent in fuel consumption to a real air battle, confirming the aircraft's readiness for extended tactical operations without the need for frequent refueling.

A spokesman for Rostec stressed that these achievements place the Su-57E in a unique category in terms of combat radius and time to remain airborne, compared to its counterparts on the global market, which bodes well for superior combat and logistical capabilities for the Russian Air Force in vast areas.
