Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal said during a press conference at the scene of the incident that the fate of about 100 people remains unknown under the rubble, warning that about 2,000 damaged and dilapidated buildings in the sector are still inhabited by residents and displaced people.
The mayor of Gaza, Yahya al-Sarraj, explained that the collapse of the building indicates the risk of more damaged residential buildings collapsing, calling for the introduction of mobile homes before the onset of winter to provide alternatives for residents and displaced people.
Municipality spokesman Hosni Muhanna said that displaced families were staying in the building to escape the difficult tent conditions, adding that rescue teams, municipal crews and civil defense are continuing to search for missing persons despite limited equipment and resources.

For his part, the Director General of Engineering and Maintenance at the Ministry of Health, Mazen Al-Araishi, said that the ministry has launched an urgent appeal to save the health system, warning that the continuation of the current situation will lead to a real health catastrophe.
In a separate tally, the Ministry of Health announced that 6 Palestinians were killed and 71 others were injured during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of victims of the genocidal war that Israel has been waging for nearly 3 years to 73,795 martyrs.
According to the ministry, the death toll from Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement announced since October 10, 2025 has risen to 1,381 martyrs and 4,757 wounded since the 11th of the same month.
In addition to the martyrs, Israel destroyed about 90% of the civilian infrastructure in the sector, while the United Nations estimated the cost of reconstruction at about $70 billion.
Israel is also preventing the entry of agreed-upon quantities of food, medicine, medical supplies, shelter materials and prefabricated homes into Gaza, where some 2.4 million Palestinians, including 2.15 million displaced people, live in catastrophic conditions.
