Manchester United were knocked out of the English Football League Cup in the third round, losing 2-3 at home to Brighton.
Days after losing the derby match 0-1 to Manchester City in the English Premier League, United suffered another shock by being knocked out of the first competition of the season.
Young player Shea Lacey (20 years old) scored the opening goal for Manchester United in the eighth minute, and just two minutes later Mason Mount added a second goal for the home side.
In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, Greek player Charalambos Kostolas reduced the deficit with a goal for Brighton, then German player Pascal Gross equalized with a second goal in the 65th minute, and Belgian player Maxime De Koer added Brighton's third goal in the 69th minute.
United are among the historic champions of the English League Cup, having won the title 10 times before, equaling their rival Manchester City, while Liverpool tops the list of most decorated teams with 15 titles.
