Al Ahly basketball player suspended for 3 months
The Egyptian Basketball Federation announced that it has imposed severe penalties on Amr Zahran, a player for Al-Ahly basketball club, following an incident during his team's match against Al-Qanah in the league competition.
The federation stressed that the incident represents a clear violation of the regulations of discipline and sportsmanship, emphasizing that sports competition is not limited to achieving results, but is also linked to commitment to sportsmanship and values inside and outside the field.
The Egyptian Basketball Federation decided to suspend Amr Zahran for 3 months from the 2026-2027 season, with the penalty to extend until the end of the league competitions.
According to the decision, the player is prohibited from participating during the suspension period in the Egyptian Cup and Egyptian Super Cup matches, in addition to international friendly and official matches.
The federation also imposed a fine of 200,000 Egyptian pounds on the player, along with a final warning, stressing that any future violation would result in harsher penalties.
The Egyptian Basketball Federation stressed that the penalties come within the framework of its keenness to maintain discipline and consolidate sports values, stressing the need for all players, technical and administrative staff to adhere to sportsmanship and mutual respect.
The federation stressed the importance of sports competitions reflecting an image befitting the name of Egypt, while adhering to behavioral standards that ensure the preservation of the integrity of the competition and the sports environment.
