OpenAI, the developer of the ChatGBT chatbot, announced that its AI agents caused 53 user-submitted images to be posted online.
The company said it has so far identified 53 cases in which user-submitted images were published on image hosting sites through links that were not publicly listed.
OpenAI added that it was able to collaborate with hosting providers to delete most of this content, and confirmed that its efforts to remove the remaining images are ongoing.
The company explained that the incident occurred while using artificial intelligence agents within a research environment, where they transferred training and evaluation-related data via third-party services.
OpenAI confirmed that using this data in this way was "not appropriate," noting that the incident occurred before new safeguards related to the training of artificial intelligence systems were implemented.
