The Izvestia newspaper quoted the ministry's press office as saying: "Clinical trials of the Russian vaccine are still ongoing, but our partners in African countries have already begun to show interest in it."

The ministry stressed that Russia attaches great importance to international efforts to combat the spread of Ebola fever caused by the Bundibugyo strain, and is actively cooperating with the World Health Organization in this regard.

This comes amid growing international concerns about the spread of the Ebola virus in Africa, particularly the Bundibugyo strain, which has proven especially difficult to contain due to the lack of a specific vaccine or targeted treatment.

The Russian Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology announced last May that the Russian vaccine it had previously developed provides protection against the Bundybugyo strain .
