German coach Thomas Reiss, the new coach of Trabzonspor, praised the performance of his players, especially Egyptian Mohamed Salah, who led the team to a 4-0 victory over Galatasaray in the Turkish Super League.
Reis took over as coach of Trabzonspor last Thursday, after the Turkish club paid 900,000 euros to his former club, Ludogorets of Bulgaria, to terminate his contract.
The German coach said in statements following the Trabzonspor vs. Galatasaray match held yesterday, Saturday: "I have lived through an exceptional week, and I feel that I have achieved two victories during it. The first was on Monday with my former team, and the second is the big win in today's (yesterday's) match."
He added: "I am very happy and proud of all the players. We delivered a remarkable performance. It became clear before the match that I had taken over the job very recently and there was not enough time left for field preparation, so I focused on talking with the players and preparing the match plan together."
Rees concluded his remarks by praising the experienced players, especially Salah, who made the difference in the Galatasaray match, saying: "We have an exceptional group of experienced players like Fabinho and Mohamed Salah; they performed brilliantly, and I think we have accomplished a great deal in a very short period of time."
With this victory, Trabzonspor raised its tally to 10 points to jump to fifth place, while Galatasaray's tally remained frozen at 13 points at the top "temporarily", after suffering its first loss this season.
