France Football magazine has announced the final list of nominees for the Best Team in the World award, as part of the 2026 Ballon d'Or awards, in both the men's and women's categories.
The men's list witnessed a notable surprise with the absence of Real Madrid and Barcelona, in contrast to the nomination of five clubs: Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Bodø/Glimt, Flamengo, and Paris Saint-Germain.
This selection comes after a season that witnessed strong competition on various fronts, whether in domestic leagues or the Champions League, in addition to the 2026 World Cup, which made the competition for the Ballon d'Or awards even more exciting.
Bayern Munich's presence was not limited to the men's list, as the German giant also appeared among the nominees for the Best Women's Football Team award.
The women's list included five clubs: Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Club America, Manchester City, and Olympique Lyonnais.
In contrast, Real Madrid was also absent from the list of nominees in the women's category.
With the announcement of the final lists, all eyes are on the Ballon d'Or ceremony to find out who will win the two awards, given the presence of big names and clubs that achieved outstanding accomplishments during the past season.
The 2026 Ballon d'Or awards ceremony will take place in London on Monday, October 26.
