Deputy Home Affairs Minister Akhmad Wiyagus is encouraging the mobilization of students from a consortium of universities as the vanguard in strengthening tuberculosis management down to the village level.

According to Wiyagus, student involvement can help address the limited number of health workers, particularly in case tracking and direct public education.
"The presence of the Higher Education Directorate staff is not only a breath of fresh air, but also fresh blood for us, because the Deputy Minister of Health and I visited not only the provincial and district levels, but also down to the sub-district and village levels," said Wiyagus.
This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs at the Coordination Meeting of the Higher Education Consortium in Supporting Tuberculosis Handling at the Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
Wiyagus also explained the strategic stages of TB management, which targets at least 90 percent of TB suspects to receive diagnostic tests.
Similar targets have also been set for close contact tracing and patient treatment success. Achieving these indicators is considered crucial to ensuring comprehensive and complete TB management.
For this reason, he asked the regional government to ensure that the TB management program is included in the regional revenue and expenditure budget (APBD) planning and budgeting documents.
Budget support is needed so that collaboration between local governments, universities, and students can run sustainably.
